- You are at the opening of the Assembly to assure them of Our great sense of their steady and firm zeal for Our service and of Our resolution to maintain Presbyterian Church Government in Scotland.
- In matters of difficulty you are to advise with such of the Ministers of Our Crown or Members of the Assembly as you shall think fit.
- The Assembly having passed the usual Act fixing the date of the next Assembly, the Moderator having addressed you, you are to reply, concluding:
“Right Honourable and Well-beloved, your labours are now at an end, and I shall inform Her Majesty that, having concluded the business for which you assembled, you have passed an Act appointing the next General Assembly to be held upon _____; and now in The Queen’s name I bid you farewell”.
