<text>This Warrant is neither signed by Queen Victoria nor countersigned by the Home Secretary.

The court and the day of the month are blank even though the month, calendar year, and regnal year have been filled in. First paragraph has interlineations: "right" has been inserted before "well-beloved" and "Cousin and" has been inserted before "Councillor". This was necessary because the Lord Chancellor was an earl, and earls are typically addressed as "Our right trusty and right well-beloved Cousin and Councillor" .

The language of this instrument shares many similarities with modern Letters Patent for the appointment of Counsellors of State (cf. this example from 2015). At the time, there was no stautory provision for this kind of delegation, so it was handled entirely under the royal prerogative.</text>
