Dear Deputy Earl Marshal
I am commanded by the King to call to your notice a Royal Proclamation which was issued on the 17th July 1917, declaring that for the future the Name of the Royal House and Family should be "Windsor", and also stating that the King, on behalf of himself and his family relinquished for the future all German Titles and Honours.
This will entail the removal of the Shield of Saxony from the Arms of the descendants of Prince Consort, and His Majesty begs that you will give such orders as you deem necessary for a record of the above named Proclamation being made in the College of Arms.
Believe me
Yours very truly
Stamfordham
The Lord Edmund Talbot, M. V. O., D. S. O.
