Dear Mr Catford,

Thankyou [sic] for letting me know that the Queen has approved my appointment as Lord Great Chamberlain.  The Warrant arrived at the House of Lords on the day of the Opening of Parliament.

I would also like to thank you for the trouble you have taken over this matter.

Yours sincerely,

(Sgd.) Cholmondeley
The Marquess of Cholmondeley

Signatures

David, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley

Robin Catford (Secretary for Appointments (Prime Minister's Secretary for Appointments)

Ornamentation

Letterhead reading "10 St. James Place" in the upper right.

Document is typewritten or printed in a Courier-esque font.

Special Features

There is an annotation in blue ink near the recipient's address that was likely made by Catford. It appears to read "NFA" and "RC" which could have indicated that the letter didn't require a reply (NFA might have meant "not for answer").
