This submission refers to a "Commission" even though, strictly speaking, that term only applies when the Monarch empowers a group of Privy Counsellors to declare Royal Assent on their behalf in the House of Lords. This instrument using the gender-neutral pronoun "they" instead of a gendered pronoun when referring to the Lord Chancellor. The words "House of Commons" appear below Chalk's signature even though "Lord Chancellor" appears on other submissions (including other Royal Assent-related submissions). At one time, these submissions included a definite article before "Royal Assent" (e.g., <a href="https://cbaionline.org/corpus/items/show/287">this example from 1919</a>), but it must have been dropped at some point since it no longer appears in modern versions. The National Security Act 2023 has been struck out in red pen in the list of legislation since it presumably didn't finish its parliamentary journey in time.
