Transcript
The Earl of Herford, Lord Chamberlain of His Majesty’s Household, has received His Majesty’s Commands to communicate to all the Ministers of Foreign Powers residing at this Court that the Balls at St James’s have ever been consider’d by the King as private Balls where no Precedence was to be observed. His Majesty conceives that a want of Information on this head may have given rise to unpleasant Altercations which this Notice must effectually prevent for the future.
